Did The Dishwasher Stop Draining The Water?

It seemed that nothing foreshadowed trouble: you loaded dirty dishes into the dishwasher, washing started in the regular mode, but it did not have time to finish! Water (maybe even soap) is inside the dishwasher and does not drain. Instead of the usual murmuring, only silence is heard or strange sounds are heard – rumbling, buzzing or light clicking. Is the situation common? We’ll figure out!

There are two types of reasons, because of which the dish drain does not work. The first of these is the excesses of the drain hose and blockages, which can be easily handled without any help. The second reason is more serious and is associated with the occurrence of malfunctions in various elements of the dishwasher. Here, without the help of professionals   you   cannot do anything, but first try to deal with the problem “on the spot.”

IMPORTANT! Before you start the diagnostics, do not forget to disconnect the dishwasher from the circuit!

Bend of the drain hose of the dishwasher. If the hose that connects the equipment to the sewage system is bent or pinched, there is nowhere to physically leave the water. Gently stretch it, connect the machine to the network and try to start the draining mode again.

The dirty filter of the dishwasher can be a problem too. All manufacturers recommend rinsing dirty dishes from food debris before loading it into equipment. But many owners of “dishwashers” neglect this rule, and therefore the filter of the machine is clogged with particles of food, pieces of napkins and other garbage. The filter is located on the bottom of the dishwasher – gently clean it of blockage , and your “assistant” will be ready to work again.

Drain the system of the dishwasher. Remains of food, lumps of napkins, forgotten toothpicks and other debris can pass through the filters and form clogs, in the drain hose or in the place of its connection with the sewage system. You can clean them yourself. First, prepare a container for draining the water, then gently disconnect the drain hose from the sewer, lower it into the tank and turn on the drain mode. If the water flows out of the hose with a powerful jet, it means that the blockage occurred at the connection point of the drain hose with the sewage system. If the water from the hose still does not merge – then, perhaps, the clog formed in it. Then you need to disconnect the second end of the hose, and wash it yourself under a powerful flow of water.

The clogging of the dishwasher drain pump is also a common reason why the dishwasher does not drain. If the machine design allows you to reach the pump, it can be cleaned by yourself. To do this, carefully remove the pump (unscrewing all fasteners), remove the clog, and then check how easy it is to rotate the inner impeller. Do this with a stick or pencil – any object, but not with your hands, as the cause of the clogging of the drain pump is often broken pieces of broken dishes. Cleaning the pump requires skill, so if you are not sure of your abilities – it is better to entrust this work to specialists.

So, you have cleared all the hoses-filters – you can connect the dishwasher to the network and restart it.  Is it still not draining the water? Well, it looks like you still have a serious malfunction in your technology. Try to determine the type of failure using   the information below.

3 Main reasons why the dishwasher drain does not work

1.The drain pump is out of order
The drain pump is responsible for draining the water from the dishwasher, and if it is “burnt out”, the water will not drain. The pump replacement is required.

2.Malfunction of the water level sensor (pressure switch)
One of the important elements of any dishwasher is a pressure switch – a special sensor that measures the level of water pressure inside the dishwasher and sends a signal to the software module. The water level data is required for each wash cycle, and if they do not set – the machine starts to work incorrectly. The replacement of the pressure switch is required.

3.The program module has failed
The software module is the “brain” of the dishwasher – it analyzes the washing cycles and sends commands to other nodes, for example, “drain” the drain pump, “heat the water” of the heater, and “draw water” into the intake valve. If the control module is faulty, these commands can be sent incorrectly or not sent at all. It is required to “flashing” the software module or to completely replace it.

If among the described reasons you saw all the signs of your breakdown, it’s time to turn to professionals! Dishwasher repair is a rather laborious and technological process, and therefore it is not recommended to conduct it yourself. Incompetent approach in this matter is able to aggravate the situation even more, to the point that your “assistant” will have to be sent to scrap metal.
