IonQ expanded its patent portfolio by acquiring a controlling stake in ID Quantique, adding nearly 250 patents to its portfolio. The company agreed to acquire Oxford Ionics, a spinout from Oxford University, in an all-stock deal valued at $1.07 billion, with the transaction expected to close in 2025. IonQ also announced the acquisition of Qubitekk, a specialist in quantum computer networking, to enhance its quantum computing capabilities. In Q4, IonQ reported revenue of $11.7 million, representing a 91.8% year-over-year increase, beating expectations by $1.42 million. IonQ raised $373 million in an equity round, strengthening its cash position to nearly $700 million as of Q1 2025. The company reported a net loss much larger than expected for Q4 2024, with guidance pointing to continued cash burn in 2025. IonQ's revenue for 2024 was $43 million, representing a 96% increase from the previous year, and the company projected full-year revenue of $75 million to $95 million for 2025, aiming to double from $43.1 million last year. IonQ gained $95.6 million in new bookings in 2024, up 47% from the previous year.
